What is an OEM lamp anyway?

An OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) lamp is a lamp made by a
mainline projector manufacturer (i.e. Dell, Hitachi, Infocus, Epson,
NEC, Mitsubishi, Optoma, Sanyo, etc.) to the exact specifications of your projector.

Be cautious of others selling lamps that are labeled OEM EQUIVALENT or THIS REPLACEMENT
LAMP IS MANUFACTURED TO FIT... or lamp model numbers in the title with no obvoious
lamp manufacturer associated with the lamp. Such lamps are all third party,
after market substitutes that are not designed to the exact specifications of your projector.

OEM lamps are fairly rare especially for older discontinued projectors. Sellers with
a large quantity of lamps in stock are most likely selling non OEM lamps.

Some sellers are using deceptive listing methods to hide the fact that they are selling non
OEM lamps. If there is any doubt, ask the seller if the advertized lamp is an OEM lamp.
