How John Lennon's confessional song became the title for a silly James Bond spoof I really don't know. The funny thing is, it works both ways--as a young man's personal statement about learning to open up to others, and as the frantic theme for an exotic espionage chase comedy starring those lovable mop-tops (this time in color). Like A Hard Day's Night, only the first "side" of this album actually contains songs from the movie--the biggest hits being the eponymous cry for assistance and "Ticket to Ride." But part 2 has a few nice tunes as well, like "It's Only Love," "I've Just Seen a Face," and a little ditty called "Yesterday." And I always love it when they do an all-out screamer like "Dizzy Miss Lizzy," which sounds like John's raucous answer to Paul's "Kansas City/Hey, Hey, Hey, Hey" vocal on Beatles for Sale. Of course, it's essential--as are all the Beatles' soundtracks (all the Beatles' albums), with the possible exception of Yellow Submarine.

Upgraded packaging includes two 180-gram LPs, a 28-page 12" booklet.

Love is an unprecedented approach to the Beatles' catalog, featuring wildly alternative mixes and "mash-ups," the combining of two or more Beatles tunes mixed together for a wholly unique song.

The project came about when Paul and Ringo, along with Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison, approached legendary producer Sir George Martin about making experimental mixes from their master tapes. Actually, Martin says that the concept was born several years before when George Harrison and Guy Laliberte, the founder of Cirque du Soleil, began to explore the possibilities of a collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and the Beatles. Out of that vision, Love was born. Martin and his son, Giles, have created a completely unique soundscape. Says Martin: "My brief was to create a soundscape of around one and a half hour's length using any sound I needed from the original Beatles multi-track recordings. It was an offer one could hardly refuse."

Opinions will no doubt vary as to the validity of these new mixes. Purists may be offended. Those thirsting for new Beatles material may be thrilled. One thing's for certain: Love will be among the most talked about releases in many years.

"This album puts the Beatles back together again, because suddenly there's John and George with me and Ringo," said Paul McCartney. "It's kind of magical."

Quentin Tarantino SECTION STARTS WITH -  Pulp Fiction Soundtrack 180 gram limited edition LP

180 Gram Vinyl! Original Soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's Oscar Award-Winning Film!
American Rock 'N' Roll, Surf Music, Pop, and Soul!
Includes Urge Overkill's Cover of Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon!"

One of the most defining cinematic moments of the mid 1990s was when the ‘counter-culture’ film Pulp Fiction was released! Pulp Fiction is the killer soundtrack which includes several slabs of vinyl perfection like Kool & The Gang’s dynamite Jungle Boogie, Al Green’s sensual Let’s Stay Together and Dusty Springfield’s gospel-like classic Son Of A Preacher Man.

The film contains a mix of American rock and roll, surf music, pop and soul. The soundtrack is equally untraditional, consisting of nine songs from the movie, four tracks of dialogue snippets followed by a song, and three tracks of dialogue alone. The album reached No. 21 on the Billboard 200 and the single, Urge Overkill's cover of the Neil Diamond song "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" peaked at No. 59.

Tarantino used an eclectic assortment of songs by various artists. Notable songs include Dick Dale's now-iconic rendition of "Misirlou", which is played during the opening credits. Tarantino chose surf music for the basic score of the film because, "it just seems like rock 'n' roll Ennio Morricone music, rock 'n' roll spaghetti Western music." In addition to the surf-rock rendition of "Misirlou", other notable songs include "Flowers on the Wall" by the Statler Brothers and "Bustin' Surfboards" by The Tornadoes, from 1962, which had been one of the first instrumental surf songs to hit the United States music charts after notables such as "Walk--Don't Run" by the Ventures.

The Orange County Register described why the soundtrack of Pulp Fiction stood out from all the others: "Unlike so many soundtracks, which just seem to be repositories for stray songs by hit acts regardless of whether they fit the film's mood, Tarantino's use of music in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction exploded with a brash, Technicolor, pop-culture intensity that mirrored the stories he was telling."

"The soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's darkly funny crime classic Pulp Fiction manages to re-create the film's wildly careening sense of style, violence, and humor by concentrating on the surf music that comprises the bulk of the movie's incidental music and adding a few sexy oldies integral to the film's story ('Let's Stay Together,' 'Son of a Preacher Man,' 'You Never Can Tell'). Of course, the inclusion of dialogue and Urge Overkill's seductive cover of Neil Diamond's 'Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon' doesn't hurt either." - Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic

Quentin Tarantino -  The Hateful Eight Soundtrack 180 GRAM  DOUBLE LIMITED EDITION LP SET

The Absolute Sound Top New Vinyl Release of 2016!

180g Vinyl Double LP Soundtrack To 2015 Film!

The Hateful Eight is the 8th film by two-time Academy Award winner Quentin Tarantino, and the first time he has made a film with a dedicated score. Who better to help create and coordinate his first dedicated score than the legendary film composer and Academy Award winner, Ennio Morricone? Tarantino has used Morricone pieces in each of his most recent six films, including Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds. The Hateful Eight marks the first time the two have collaborated throughout the production of the film to create a complete picture: bringing together the sounds, sights, and passionate grit to fabricate a truly well rounded piece of smart art. Morricone started writing music at the age of six and has been composing critically acclaimed film scores since the 1960s when his career was launched after composing the score to The Man with No Name trilogy starring Clint Eastwood. Morricone established himself as the master of spaghetti western scores and later on began working in all genres of film with directors such as Franco Zeffirelli, Federico Felini, Roman Polanski, and Roland Joffe putting him on par with the major composers and establishing him as one of the all-time greats, composing soundtracks for over 400 film and TV projects. He has made his mark on film by blending jazz, folk, blues, funk, and classical music to make for brilliantly simple scores that set him apart from the rest.

In Tarantino's tradition of not confining his soundtrack selections to space or time periods, the soundtrack also features songs from Roy Orbison, David Hess, and The White Stripes to round everything out. Hateful Eight is the most sweeping and narrative soundtrack Tarantino has released yet, and is sure to become a classic.

"The maestro himself conducted the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in a recording session at Abbey Road, presented here with a sound and mix that simply could not be better." - Mark Milano, The Absolute Sound, 4/5 Music, 4.5/5 Sonics

Soundtrack Album To 2016 Film On Double LP! Features Great 1980's Music From The Cars, Dire Straits, Pete Townshend, ZZ Top & More!

The movie contains many more period appropriate songs than could be included on the double LP. However, the Official Soundtrack album does not disappoint with music from Van Halen, Dire Straits, The Cars, Blondie, ZZ Top, Cheap Trick, Hot Chocolate, Pete Townshend and more!

"Richard Linklater cares about the music in his films, with "School Of Rock," "Boyhood," and "Dazed and Confused" in particular showing a strong commitment to a carefully curated soundtrack. But what you might not know is how much of a stickler the director is for ensuring the song choices are not anachronistic — for his movies, or anybody else’s.

""If I know a song came out a year later than the time when a film is set, f— you, you just lost me. You can’t approach a period film saying, ‘Oh, who’s going to care?’ No, no! I’m doing it for that one person who does care. Because they’re out there. I’m that person. If you’re going to be fast and loose with that, I don’t trust you on anything. You at least have to try," he told The Toronto Star. "Even way back when I did ‘Dazed and Confused’ (set in 1976), I was trying to get a Thin Lizzy song for it, ‘The Boys Are Back In Town.’ But that didn’t come out until June 4 and (the movie setting) was May 28! I went, ‘I can’t use it, I can’t use it!’ "

"Well, the director is never short of music he can use, and that’s certainly true for his "Everybody Wants Some!!""

Numbered edition of 2,500 copies on "Bat Country" black vinyl!

Hunter S. Thompson's weird and hallucinatory book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was in 1998 translated to the screen by director Terry Gilliam, and stars Johnny Depp and Benicio del Toro as Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo. The film details the duo's journey through Las Vegas as their initial journalistic intentions devolve into an exploration of the city under the influence of psychoactive substances. The music is perfectly fitting in the psychedelic story of the movie. It contains songs used in the film with sound bites of the film before each song.

The psychedelic and classic rock songs on the soundtrack include songs from Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan, Buffalo Springfield, and the Dead Kennedys. The movie Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was a financial failure, but later gained a cult following and was eventually included in many "best of" movie lists.

The 21st anniversary Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas edition is available for the first time on vinyl, as a limited individually numbered edition of 2,500 copies pressed on "Bat Country" black vinyl. Specially Remastered for This LP by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio!

THIS AUDIO FIDELITY TITLE IS BRAND NEW BUT DOES NOT COME TRADITIONALLY SEALED WITH TIGHT PLASTIC WRAP. THEY COME WITH A PLASTIC OPEN PROTECTIVE WRAP.

Eddie and the Cruisers is a 1983 American film directed by Martin Davidson based on the novel by P.F. Kluge. The story concerns the mysterious death of a fictional '60s rock star. The film received mixed reviews, did not do well at the box office and was pulled from theaters after three weeks.

After successful screenings on HBO in 1984, the album suddenly climbed the charts, going quadruple platinum. Nine months after the film was released in theaters, the main song in the film, "On the Dark Side," was the number one song in the country on Billboard's Mainstream, Rock, and Heatseeker charts; and #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Another single from the film, "Tender Years," peaked at #31 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Cafferty was hired to write a few songs for the film, but he did such a good job of capturing the feeling of the 1960s and 1980s that Davidson asked him to score the entire film. Only Michael "Tunes" Antunes, the tenor saxophone player for the Beaver Brown Band, and Helen Schneider were professional musicians in the cast.

"There was a year's delay before this film, which concerns the mysterious death of a fictional '60s rock star, took off via video and cable TV, but when it did, the soundtrack album, featuring such songs as 'On the Dark Side' and 'Tender Years' by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band, took off with it..." - William Ruhlmann, allmusic

 SUPERBAD
First time on vinyl, one side features a screen print! Double LP limited to 2,000 numbered copies!

Vinyl release of Lyle Workman's score to Greg Mottola's 2007 comedy "Superbad." "Although it might seem strange (or at least highly ironic) to score a teen comedy about suburban white kids with pseudo-blaxploitation music, expectations were certainly raised when composer Lyle Workman rounded up his band for the project. Among a crew of studio horn and string players was a core band consisting of Bootsy and Catfish Collins, John "Jab'o" Starks Clyde Stubblefield and Bernie Worrell!

"All those guys are James Brown and/or Parliament/Funkadelic alumni, so if you thought this was going to be some kind of serious funk throwdown, you'd be right. Well, partially right anyway. Remember, this is music that's supposed to further a story line so while there are some super-funky jams, there are also moments that are more standard soundtrack fare. There are also a handful of songs from Curtis Mayfield, Jean Knight, the Bar-Kays and Rick James that really fit in nicely." — AllMusic

The Great Gatsby Soundtrack (2013) 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION 2LP SET

180 Gram Double Vinyl! Featuring JAY Z, Florence + The Machine, The xx, Gotye, Lana Del Ray, The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, Will.I.Am, Jack White, Sia & More!

The Modern Tunes are All Based Around Authentic Jazz Tunes!

Third Man Records is proud to announce the worldwide release of the vinyl version of The Great Gatsby film Soundtrack. Anticipation is already high for this companion piece to Baz Luhrmann's groundbreaking film of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic. The soundtrack was executive produced by Shawn ''JAY Z" Carter, and produced by the film's co-writer/ producer/ director Luhrmann. It features an all-star line up from Jack White, JAY Z, Florence + The Machine, The xx, Beyoncé x André 3000, The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, will.i.am, Lana Del Rey, Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock among many more standout contributions.

Drawing on his unique and unrivaled position in popular culture, Jay Z (with collaborator and the film's executive music consultant Jeymes Samuel) worked with Luhrmann and music supervisor Anton Monsted on the Gatsby project over the past two years, translating the Jazz Age sensibility of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel into the musical equivalents of our own times through the blending of hip hop, traditional jazz and other contemporary musical textures.

Penned by Lana Del Rey and the film's director, Baz Luhrmann, the song "Young and Beautiful" was released to contemporary hit radio as a single, and has been used as the film's buzz single. Hip hop magazine Rap-Up called the single "haunting", while MTV called it "somber-sounding". The track performed by Florence and the Machine, "Over the Love", references the "green light" theme from the novel in its lyrics. Chris Payne of Billboard praised Beyoncé and André 3000's cover of "Back to Black", made unique with a downtempo EDM wobble.

An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.

"[O]ne of Luhrmann's main arguments in grounding the film's soundtrack in hip-hop was to tie in thematically with Fitzgerald's own long-discussed fascination with all things modern, new and exciting. After all, if jazz was employed in the original Gatsby as a means to impart the feel of daring, cutting-edge newness, then it makes sense to accent those elements in a modern adaptation through sounds that are daring and cutting edge right now... Part of the genius inherent in Luhrmann and Jay-Z's soundtrack is that the modern tunes are all based around authentic jazz tunes... It also doesn't hurt that Luhrmann and Jay-Z have picked a cadre of artists and from Bryan Ferry, to The xx, to Fergie, to Florence + the Machine, who truly understand their role in the production -- especially in the case of Lana Del Rey, who delivers possibly the best song of her career." - Matt Collar, All Music Guide

The Eagles are represented as a group on "Life In The Fast Lane," from the "Hotel California" album, while there are 2 solo members with individual tracks: Joe Walsh does a parody of fortune and fame on the tongue and cheek track, "Life's Been Good." Randy Meisner performs on "Bad Man."

One of the most popular female vocalists of the 1970's was Linda Ronstadt. She has 2 live performances on the album, which she also performed in the film, "Tumbling Dice," (a Rolling Stones track) and "Poor Poor Pitiful Me."

Boston's feel good debut single, "More Than A Feeling" is on the soundtrack, which was extracted from their multiplatinum eponyomous debut that sold more copies that any debut album during its inception. Queen rocks with their stadium anthum, "We Will Rock You." Steve Miller soars on "Fly Like An Eagle." Tom Petty and the Heartbreaker's trademark sound is heard on "Breakdown." Lou Gramm's high pitched vocals are evident on the track "Cold As Ice." The Doobie Brothers "It Keeps You Runnin'" is also included in this important rock and roll collection.

The soundtrack also sports Jimmy Buffet's electric performance on "Livingston Saturday Night." Folker and adult contemporary stylist, Dan Fogelberg delivers one of his most emotionally wrenching ballads with "There's A Place In The World For A Gambler," while New York's own, Billy Joel sings his trademark ballad and grammy award winning song of the year, "Just The Way You Are." James Taylor is represented with the mid-tempo love song,"Your Smiling Face" and jazz musician Boz Scaggs performs his up tempo signature track "Lido Shuffle," that originaly appeared on his "Silk Degrees" album.

This collection brings the listener back to a more innocent time in rock and roll (if that was possible), when the emphasis was primarily on the music itself and the live performances. It is essential listening for avid fans of the rock and roll medium. Skip the movie and go straight for the soundtrack!

Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Soundtrack 2 LP SET

Music From Second Guardians of The Galaxy Film On Double LP!
Deluxe Edition!

The first Guardians of the Galaxy film featured a chart-topping, platinum soundtrack album in its Awesome Mix Vol. 1. Written and directed by James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 brings us Awesome Mix Vol. 2, featuring a compilation of memorable tracks from the '60s and '70s which are played within key moments of the film.

"This time, Gunn had a bigger budget, which allowed him to include familiar songs from superstar acts: George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord,' Fleetwood Mac's 'The Chain' (every band member watched the scene that features the song before giving approval) and ELO's 'Mr. Blue Sky' – which scores what Gunn calls 'the most hugely insane shot I've ever done,' early in the film. 'It's the perfect song to start the movie,' says Gunn, 'because it's really joyous, but there's a really dark underpinning to it.'

There are, again, plenty of deep cuts on hand, and Gunn (who once played in a band of his own, the Icons) relished the chance to expose the likes of Jay and the Americans' 'Come a Little Bit Closer' – or a true obscurity like 1976's 'Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang,' by one-hit-wonder Silver – to the Marvel-loving masses. 'One of the most exciting things,' he says, 'was knowing I would be making bands that may have been forgotten suddenly be a topic of conversation.'"

Natural Born Killers Soundtrack LIMITED EDITION 2LP SET

Out of Print! VERY Few Copies Available!

Produced by Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, the soundtrack to the film Natural Born Killers (1994) was a downright smash in youngster's music tastes of the era. On his approach to compiling the soundtrack, Reznor told MTV: "I suggested to Oliver [Stone] to try to turn the soundtrack into a collage-of-sound, kind of the way the movie used music: make edits, add dialog, and make it something interesting, rather than a bunch of previously released music."

Some songs were written especially for the film or soundtrack, such as "Burn" by Nine Inch Nails. Other songs featured are by artists like Patti Smith, Cowboy Junkies, Leonard Cohen, Jane's Addiction, Dr. Dre and Juliette Lewis. The album has sold 500,000 copies in the United States, making it a Gold record.

"...the soundtrack to Oliver Stone's brutally warped serial killer saga recreates the hallucinatory feeling of the film. Snatches of dialogue interweave with song fragments and sound effects, creating a harrowing, violent soundscape where Leonard Cohen occasionally offers a relief of sorts. In fact, Reznor managed to convey the insanity of the movie's lead characters much more effectively than Stone did with the film itself." -Stephen Thomas Erlewine, allmusic

VARIOUS ARTISTS Scrooged (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Presenting the world premiere release of acclaimed composer Danny Elfman's (Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Wanted, Alice In Wonderland) original score to Paramount Pictures' 1988 holiday comedy "Scrooged," starring Bill Murray, Karen Allen, David Johansen and Bobcat Goldthwait, and directed by Richard Donner.

An important score in Elfman's canon, "Scrooged" was the composer's first big-budget Hollywood score and one that clearly anticipates his next, and most iconic work, Batman. For this wickedly funny and inventive update of the immortal Dickens Christmas classic, Elfman fashions a robust, sophisticated musical tapestry that expertly weaves together the film's varied tones, which runs the gambit from wildly broad comedy and holiday cheer to gothic horror and emotional drama.

GHOSTBUSTERS II

The Ghostbusters II soundtracks is a great blend of R&B, new jack swing, and rap. Featuring a redone version of Ray Parker, Jr.'s original theme by Run-D.M.C., as well as two cuts from Bobby Brown ("On Our Own" and "We're Back") and New Edition's "Supernatural, the film's soundtrack is like a time capsule of radio in the late '80s. Although the film didn't spawn any truly essential songs, the soundtrack makes for a nostalgic journey that fans of the film (or '80s R&B) will have fun revisiting.

ROCK N ROLL HIGH SCHOOL - SOUNDTRACK SIRE RECORDS RELEASE  Out of Print PRESSING and one of the last copies left in the world still factory sealed.

ROCK N ROLL HIGH SCHOOL SOUNDTRACK - SIRE RECORDS - BLACK VINYL -  This is the soundtrack to the cult movie where P.J. Soles plays the Ramones #1 fan. It features two great original songs by the Ramones, plus an 11 minute live performance by the Ramones. The Ramones also back up The Paley Brothers on a cover of Ritchie Valens classic "Come On Let's Go". (Incidentally, Andy Paley later became a well respected producer.) The only other song recorded especially for this album is a cute version of "Rock 'n' Roll High School" by P.J. Soles herself. The rest of the album consists of tracks licensed from other record companies. Most of them are very good, although I don't care much for the weird instrumental by Brian Eno. Several of the songs have a "school" theme, appropriately enough. I should mention that "School Days" by Chuck Berry is not the original version, it's a rerecording that sounds almost identical to the original (it's even in mono). In short, this is a terrific soundtrack. Highly recommended.

Actor, model, rebel and, yes, neophyte musician - James Dean was the drifting piece of antimatter which ignited the cultural Big Bang of the mid- 50s from Elvis to Brando, race cars to rock n roll. He was the very essence of cool, a devastatingly handsome figure who could express a vast range of emotions with a single eyebrow, and though his time was short, he accomplished much both personally and professionally. This special collector s item attempts to bring some of Dean s lesser known accomplishments together in one unique rarities collection. The DVD contains rare interviews, commercials and theatrical trailers that follow the trajectory of Dean s assent to superstardom. The 12 vinyl contains the only known musical recordings Dean ever did plus a shockingly prophetic public service announcement. All in all, Essential Collection is a must for Dean enthusiasts. --Official Press Release
