You are buying an A4 modern print of the vintage pattern and not the finished items.

This is a wonderful 1940s wartime pattern designed for men in the Royal Air Force which offered the knitter to knit gloves, fingerless mitts, flying gloves and a helmet (also useful for motorbike riders!), all of which were designed and approved by the Royal Air Force Comforts Committee, and a super pattern for historical reenactment and revival enthusiasts as well many other outdoor activities. A set of four needles is used for all the gloves and mitts as well as the helmet (you will also use two needles for this project also). All the items were originally knitted in either Sirdar 'Majestic' Knitting Wool (4-ply) or RAF Knitting Wool (4-ply) which have long since been discontinued. But try a modern D/K in place of the vintage 4-ply as vintage wools were heavier than modern, but as always work a tension square to see if a change of needles is needed to obtain the tension stipulated in the pattern.
