This hard drive upgrade adds an incredible 4 GIGS (around 8 CD's) of storage capacity to your Roland VS-880 or VS-880EX, 10 GIGS (around 20 CD's) to your Roland VSR-880 or VS-890 and 15 GIGS (around 30 CD's) to your Roland VS-1680, VS-1824CD or VS-1880. This gives you virtually unlimited storage capacity for your music! This hard drive replaces the existing drive.

This auction is for the bare hard drive only, and does not include the caddy. This hard drive has 2 screw holes on each side, located 9/16" and 3 9/16" from the front connector. If your Roland caddy does not have access holes in this location, then you would have to drill new holes in the side of the caddy, so please check that measurement to be sure. Usually you don't have to drill holes and, in any case, the hard drive can be held securely with just 2 screws.

FAQ's:

Q: Do I have to load the VS operating system onto the new drive?

A: No, the operating system is built into an EPROM chip, so it is already there. The hard drive is just used to store data.

Q: How hard is it to install the hard drive?

A: It is very easy and you only need a Phillips Head screwdriver. You are basically just swapping the internal drive with our new drive. You just need to remove the cables, remove the drive caddy, unscrew the old drive and then reverse the procedure to install the new drive.

Q: Can I put a larger capacity hard drive into my unit?

A: It depends upon which model VS recorder you have. The capacity is limited by the VS operating system. You can put in a drive with a larger capacity, but it can only use the maximum capacity set by the operating system. You may receive a larger capacity hard drive, the excess space is ignored.
