Product Description:

This offering is for a new-old-stock white Silca Impero frame-fit pump (w/o a pump-head) that we believe is factory spec'd as a size 56 cm. It has an uncompressed length in the 58 cm range (with reference points that measure from the longest point on the handle to the end of the silver sleeve (not inclusive of the brass bolt thread). I can also confirm the pump will shrink down by about 5 cm when fully compressed.  We have been told by a couple of different sources the Silca factory spec'd pump length is generally a couple of cm's less than the uncompressed length (without the pump-head).  So given our uncompressed 58 cm measurement noted above, we arrive at the aforementioned 56 cm sizing specification (which practically seems about right when we consider our fully compressed 5 cm measurement that will be partially offset by the added length of a pump-head).

I understand the above specs may indicate frame sizes best suited for this pump, but keep in mind all the variables involved in assessing fit.  Seat tube measurements, for example, will sometimes use different reference points...depending on the manufacturer...which will impact the compatibility of a frame-fit pump on a seat tube.  This particular pump also has a pump peg hole designed into the end of the handle to accommodate top tube mounting, but keep in mind the length of the top tube relative to the sizing noted.  I think most would also agree a velcro strap is a preferred accessory to further secure just about any frame-fit pump to a top tube (and such a strap will have to be acquired elsewhere, as I was not provided one with this pump).

The design/construction of these old style Silca Impero frame-fit pumps appears to place a great deal of importance on weight.  We say this because a digital scale weight of about 138 grams (w/o a pump-head) ranks this pump among the lightest we have come across relative to some of the other models in this class/size.  The trade-off is that most of the component pieces are made out of hardened plastics (so probably not as durable as similar pumps made with light alloy materials), but these Italian made pumps have been around for years (so their durability must still be considered fairly respectable).  This particular Silca model also includes the black rubber washer/spacer that seats between the pump body and the chromed sleeve (which is generally considered a more desirable spacer material relative to the traditional cork material we sometimes find on these vintage Silca pumps).

As for condition, we received a fairly large crate of miscellaneous frame-fit-pumps with little individual packing to protect their cosmetic condition. So they are shopworn (with visible marks/scuffs/scratches, and in this particular case a yellowing of the white finish that is most prominent at the handle-end).  This particular offering is among those that was included in that crate, so while it appears to be functionally fine, the cosmetic condition is second quality (and please keep this in mind when considering this offering).  Lastly, I want to confirm one more time this particular offering does not include a pump-head, so one will have to be acquired or recycled from another source. Listing Update...I am updating the pictures to reflect the next one of these frame pumps that will sell/ship. To this end, I can confirm this cosmetic second quality offering shows better in the pictures relative to what I am seeing in person...and just want to be honest here. Please also note that while we have multiple quantities listed for sale, we will repeatedly update the pictures to reflect the next offering that will sell/ship.

Note to international customers regarding shipping...
We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.

Note to international customers regarding customs...
We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
