How does a SquareTrade plan work?

File a claim with SquareTrade online or over the phone. We're available 24/7.

We'll provide free shipping to and from our service center.

If we can't repair your item, we'll reimburse you its replacement cost up to the coverage amount.

Important things to know:

  • Upon purchase of your plan, you'll get an email. This will be your official purchase confirmation. The email will also have a link to the "My Warranties" section of the SquareTrade website where you can view and manage your protection plans. You will not receive a paper contract unless you request one.
  • Keep the receipt for your item. You'll need proof of item purchase to file a claim. You can upload or email your receipt or purchase confirmation to SquareTrade anytime and we'll keep track of it for you.
  • If your item is described as "New," your protection plan term assumes that your item has a valid manufacturer's warranty. If your item doesn't include a manufacturer's warranty, your coverage term will be adjusted to reflect that.
  • ADH (Accidental Damage from Handling) coverage is only available for new items. Items that are used or refurbished, or did not arrive sealed in their original packaging, will only be eligible for standard (non-ADH) protection.
  • Protection plans that include ADH coverage must be bought within 30 days of item purchase. If you buy a protection plan on the same day as item purchase, ADH coverage will start on day one of your plan. If you buy a plan on a later date, accidents occurring in the first 30 days of your plan will not be covered.

  • Coverage lasts one to three years from item purchase date. Coverage length is described in the protection plan title. Your plan begins on the date you purchased your item and is inclusive of the manufacturer's warranty period. If your item arrives late, call SquareTrade to have your plan start-date moved to the shipping date. If there's an issue with your item and it is still covered by the manufacturer's warranty, you'll be directed to the manufacturer first.
