Rogers Smith & Co Silver Tankard Pitcher 14" ANTIQUE 1868
New Haven, Connecticut
Patented by JAs. Stimpsom 1854

This is an incredible old tankard or pitcher.
I'm uncertain whether it's silver plate or pewter. (I was told it was pewter when I purchased it.)
It is beautifully etched on both sides.
The handle is particularly interesting, with figurals at the base of the handle and near the top (photos 3).
It has a hinged lid and a porcelain liner.
In good shape overall, considering it's age.
There is a dent on one side near the base (photo 5).
There are a couple heavy scratches to the left of the dent.
The plate is in very nice condition.
The porcelain liner has a ridge around the middle (photo 10).
No cracks or solders.
Measures a full 14" tall and 11" wide from spout to handle.
It is marked as photographed:
Bottom
"Patented by JAs Stimpson 1854
Extended for Seven Years"
"Rogers Smith & Co - New Haven CT"
 "Pat June 13, 1868"
"Pat Nov 3, 1868"
Front
"Presented to
G.K. (? not sure of initials) Weller
by his Wife
July 23, 1874"
