The Swiss Federal Railways Today 1950 47 pages
Facts About the Railways was published for the first time in the Autumn of 1948, with the object of informing the public of the task and the work of the Swiss Federal Railways, a state-owned undertaking.
Since then, there have been some changes in the technical, economic and financial aspects of the problems confronting the Swiss railways. The annual reports on the working results and the statistical returns have recorded these changes, but, nevertheless, it does seem to us not inappropriate to compile the present booklet to explain and illustrate the developments that have taken place.
Facts About the Railways does not pretend to do more than this: To explain to the public, who, of necessity, cannot have a detailed knowledge of railway matters, the many and diverse problems which must be solved by a railway undertaking whose primary responsibility is to serve the public. We trust that it will succeed in this and meet with a favourable reception.
