Very stylish Edwardian silver table cigar cutter by the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Operated by pushing the top down which is set on a spring which slides the blades forward. The cover is held with an attractive screw to the front which allows quick emptying and cleaning. Hallmarked for London but marks rubbed to the base and cover, this design however dates from c.1900.

It measures 2 1/2" high and 3 1/2" by 2 1/2" wide. The apertures are 10mm across. It is weighted to the base but overall weighs 377g. Condition is very good: there are small dents to the base at 2 of the corners and some light surface wear, some expected scrape marks to the side of the cover caused by the mechanism. Inside it is clean but with tarnish and the spring works well and the blades are still sharp.
