La section de contrôle Nucleus de votre station d'enregistrement est basée sur les concepts développés pour la SSL Matrix.

Le Nucleus offre des possibilités audio uniques. A la base, nous utilisons un trajet de signal de type SSL SuperAnalogue, vous offrant une qualité d'écoute audio légendaire devenue la référence, avec des connexions de sorties séparées à +4 dBu et -10 dBV.

L'interface audio USB de haute qualité vous offre un signal stéréo en enregistrement et en lecture avec votre station audionumérique. Deux entrées combinées XLR/Jack 6,35 mm micro/ligne/instrument peuvent alimenter en même temps l'interface audio et les sorties d'écoute Monitor.

Les entrées/sorties numériques S/PDIF alimentent les convertisseurs AN/NA de l'interface audio (pré-insertion), vous offrant à la fois un trajet d'enregistrement 'numérique vers la station audionumérique' et un trajet du signal 'signal micro/ligne/instrument vers sortie numérique'. Un réglage signal traité/non traité permet de doser le niveau du signal d'entrée analogique (et numérique) et le niveau de lecture de la station audionumérique pour une écoute totalement absente de latence.

Les préamplificateurs micro Nucleus sont des préamplis micro SSL SuperAnalogue, identiques à ceux utilisés sur les consoles SSL Duality et AWS et sur notre système X-Rack... ce qui donne au Nucleus son niveau de qualité professionnelle dans le trajet de l'enregistrement des signaux du micro. Ses entrées micro sont équipées de filtres passe-haut à 80 Hz, et de touches d'inversion de phase et d'alimentation fantôme. Il vous offre également des connexions de départ/retour d'insertion pour l'intégration de vos processeurs ou effets analogiques sur les entrées micro/ligne/instrument, mais qui peuvent être placées sur la sortie de lecture de la station audionumérique pour le mixage final. Une entrée stéréo 'externe' supplémentaire vous offre un trajet d'écoute analogique transparent pour une autre interface audio, ou tout autre équipement analogique.

Vous disposez d'un afficheur de niveau de sortie analogique de précision. Une embase stéréo en mini-Jack 3,5 mm permet l'écoute du signal d'un iPod ou de tout autre lecteur portable. Deux sorties casque viennent compléter les options d'écoute.

Le système Nucleus se connecte à votre ordinateur par liaison Ethernet à débit élevé pour le contrôle de votre station d'enregistrement. Il vous offre également une connexion USB et s'affiche sur votre ordinateur hôte sous la forme d'un clavier standard qui permet l'émulation des commandes les plus importantes.

Il y a quatre ports USB à l'arrière, ce qui vous permet d'utiliser le système comme un concentrateur USB. Une connexion conventionnelle en Jack pour contacteur au pied est également présente. Vous trouverez aussi un port pour carte SD, vous permettant de sauvegarder/charger vos Profiles. La configuration et l'affectation des fonctions de contrôle aux touches et boutons pour la commande de la station d'enregistrement se font par le navigateur "SSL Logicitivity", ce qui vous permet de sauvegarder et de charger différentes configurations d'affectations de contrôles.

Nous aurions pu nous arrêter là, mais nous avons choisi de doter le Nucleus d'un élément décisif : il est fourni avec la collection de Plug-Ins Duende Native Essentials. At its foundation is a SSL SuperAnalogueTM signal path providing benchmark audio quality monitor output to “main” and “alternate’ speaker sets via +4dBu connections. A high quality 2+2 Ch Dante audio interface provides a record and playback path for your DAW or connectivity to a wider Dante IP audio network. Two Combi XLR mic/line/instrument level inputs can feed the audio interface and the monitor outputs simultaneously. Digital I/O via S/PDIF feeds the AD/DA of the audio interface (pre insert) enabling both a "digital to DAW" record path and a "mic/line/instrument to digital" output path. The Digital input can use Ch 3&4 of the audio interface so can be recorded to separate channels in your DAW in parallel to the incoming analogue mic/line/instrument inputs. With Nucleus2 we have added a talkback input that feeds the headphones, and triggers a switchable -20dB DIM in the monitor outputs. Nucleus2 is a compact, portable desktop unit that creates a comfortable, efficient, hands on operating environment for DAW based Music and Film/TV Post production. Nucleus2 offers a unique combination of audio capabilities. At its foundation is a SSL SuperAnalogueTM signal path providing benchmark audio quality monitor output to “main” and “alternate’ speaker sets via +4dBu connections. A high quality 2+2 Ch Dante audio interface provides a record and playback path for your DAW or connectivity to a wider Dante IP audio network. Two Combi XLR mic/line/instrument level inputs can feed the audio interface and the monitor outputs simultaneously. Digital I/O via S/PDIF feeds the AD/DA of the audio interface (pre insert) enabling both a "digital to DAW" record path and a "mic/line/instrument to digital" output path. The Digital input can use Ch 3&4 of the audio interface so can be recorded to separate channels in your DAW in parallel to the incoming analogue mic/line/instrument inputs. A wet/dry control enables balancing of analogue (and digital) input and DAW playback for zero latency record monitoring. With Nucleus2 we have added a talkback input that feeds the headphones, and triggers a switchable -20dB DIM in the monitor outputs. This input has an adjustable gain, and can be switched to feed input 2 of the Dante soundcard for remote communications over the network. The Nucleus2 mic pre's are SSL SuperAnalogue Mic Pre's, identical to those used on SSL Duality and AWS consoles and our X-Rack system giving Nucleus2 a professional standard transparent mic record path. The mic inputs have 80Hz High Pass Filters, Polarity Reverse and Phantom Power. A pair of insert send/return connections for incorporation of external analogue processing or effects default to the mic/line/instrument inputs but can be moved across to DAW playback for mixdown. An additional "external" stereo analogue input provides a transparent SuperAnalogue monitor path for another audio interface, or any other analogue device. There is an accurate analogue output level meter. A stereo minijack connection makes monitoring from an iPod or any other portable audio device straightforward. Two headphone outputs complete the monitoring options.

Nucleus2 provides a complete set of dedicated and assignable hardware controls that is easily customised to suit individual user preferences, for all major DAW and plug-in parameters. Two banks of eight channels each provide; 100mm motorised Faders, fully user definable soft keys and V-Pots, dedicated Select/Solo/Cut buttons and 10 point channel level meters. The Nucleus2 centre section DAW controls provide; large heavy duty transport buttons, a high quality jog/shuttle wheel, bank/channel/ layer selection & navigation/global DAW parameter selection and additional USB keyboard emulation buttons. It also features a USB connection and appears to your host computer as a standard keyboard enabling key command emulation. There are three USB ports on the back which operate as a USB hub. A standard jack footswitch connection is also included and there is also an SD card slot for Profile storage. Configuration and mapping of Key commands and DAW Commands is via a remote "SSL Logicitivity" browser, which allows differing control profile sets to be stored and recalled.
