The Certosa di Pavia is amonastery in Lombardy - Italy, situated near a small town of the same name in the Province of Pavia,8 km north of Pavia. Built in 1396-1495, it was once located on the border of a large hunting park belonging to the Visconti Family of Milan of which today only scattered parts remain. It is one of the largest monasteries in Italy.Certosa is the Italian name for a house of the cloistered monastic order of Carthunsians. The Certosa is renowned for the exuberance of its architecture, in both the Gothic and Renaissance styles, and for its collection of artworks which are particularly representative of the region.

In order to celebrate the 600th anniversary (1396 - 1996) of the Certosa di Pavia,  in 1996 Ms Letizia Valenza, owner of the local pen shop La Stilografica, signed a very interesting collaboration with Aurora. The final result, part of the Aurora Jewelry Collection, is remarquable. The classic Aurora 88 profile is accented by the heft and elegance of a 925 pinstriped sterling silver (long-time favorite among Italian pen aficionados) cap and barrel. The silver and gold trim give this Aurora 88 fountain pen a classic two-tone appeal. The transparent ink window located between the barrel and the section indicates when it's time to refill this generous piston-filling pen. Notice the elegant engraving of the Aurora brand name on the gold cap band and the specifik imprint engraved on the cap: Certosa di Pavia 600 anni accompained by the individual limitation number (#295) and the 925 sterling silver stamp. The nib choosen by Aurora for this high end Aurora 88's version is a 18k - 750 gold with ebonite feed, instead of the regular 14k nib. For many this is a "grail pen" that will be a treasured collector's item. Only 600 limited pieced were ever made for this scarce boutique edition. Rare is an understatement...

It comes in unused condition with all the specific original boxes and papers: specific display box with enameled commemorative plaque, outer sleeve, Aurora 88 booklet, Jewelry Collection paper and the specific scroll for this edition.
