30-33hp Gains. This cam provides larger gains when there is more compression in the combustion chamber than what came factory. We recommend using this cam on all motor K-series engines with high compression pistons (12.0:1 or higher), and/or boosted engines. This cam provides a 30-33hp gain over factory, and requires upgraded valvesprings and retainers to avoid engine part failure.

Skunk2 Racing's " Stage 3" Camshafts are designed as a performance upgrade to mildly to highly modified vehicles running the 3 Lobe VTEC K20A/ K20A2/ K20Z1/ K20Z3 and K24A2 engines or cylinder heads. These camshafts will outperform all other Skunk2 offerings from idle to redline with no loss in drivability. A great match for vehicles with aftermarket intake manifolds, light to heavy cylinder head work, large changes in compression, intake, big-tube header, and large exhaust. Stage 3's require a simple valve spring and retainer upgrade due to the additional lift, duration and increased RPM range. Considered the go to cam for cracking that 300hp on pump gas for years... ideal for street cars that really aren't street cars and entry-level drag race cars.

 

Our Stage 3's incorporate Skunk2 Racing's cutting-edge Fast Ramp and AMAX features, which are responsible for increasing overall performance, producing unmatched response from idle to redline. You can expect optimized mid-range and top-end horsepower/torque with peak power moved up the RPM band, producing a seamless VTEC crossover!

 

Fast Ramp - The same technology used in Formula One racing, where seat timing is reduced, which results in additional cylinder pressure and more torque but without compromising valve-train longevity.

 

AMAX - A Skunk2 design that simply maximizes the area under the lift curve but without compromising reliability or valve-train stability. Skunk2’s profiles feature more duration than competitors’ at lifts above 1mm, resulting in greater efficiency and more power.

 

Independent tests have shown average gains to be in the neighborhood of +30-35 horsepower with large gains in mid-range torque and upper RPM horsepower! Stage 3 cams are a more picky install and should be performed by a detail minded installer with a attention paid to all critical clearances and degreeing for peak performance.
