A title that is richly entertaining, "Eastwood" traces the life of the Hollywood legend through more than 100 video and audio clips from the 53 films which he directed or starred in. Fans can explore the life and work of Eastwood with rare film footage and photographs of Clint, his family and friends, and through his personal commentary. Through hours of exclusive interviews, Clint Eastwood shares candid insight into his life and career. For a true entertainment experience, users can immerse themselves in their favorite Clint Eastwood films up to and including this year's "Bridges of Madison County." In addition, they can enjoy a collection of unique memorabilia such as home movies and even view clips of rare television appearances on shows such as "Mr. Ed" and "Maverick." Thanks to his help and insight during the project's development, the CD-ROM title embodies Clint Eastwood's views and personality. "This is the closest thing to sitting down and talking with Clint over a beer -- it's casual, fun and revealing," said Mike Slade, president and CEO of Starwave. The double CD-ROM set is a native Windows(R) 95 title that takes full advantage of the new operating system's performance enhancements. These include multithreading (which allows smoother transitions between different sources of audio, video and animation), AutoPlay (which helps users load and start their CD-ROM program quickly and easily), and the general improvements of enhanced speed and reliability. The title boasts a number of additional innovative features, including a unique scrolling interface, 16-bit color graphics, high-quality video and full- stereo music and sound effects from Clint Eastwood's movies and interviews.

Video clips from Clint Eastwood's impressive body of work are organized into six categories: Early Years, Cops, Westerns, Backroads and Barrooms, Man of Action, and Behind the Camera. As viewers browse through a category, the atmosphere of the genre is richly rendered through evocative illustrations, animation, music and sound effects. "Eastwood" also features audio clips of each movie's theme music; a plot synopsis of each film; reviews by prominent movie critics including Roger Ebert, Richard Schickel and Janet Maslin; cast lists and production credits; and information on box-office statistics and awards. With more than 50 feature films to his credit, 17 of which he directed, Clint Eastwood is one of the most popular actors in motion picture history. Clinton Eastwood Jr. (born May 31, 1930) is an American actor, filmmaker, musician, and political figure. After achieving success in the Western TV series Rawhide, he rose to international fame with his role as the Man with No Name in Italian filmmaker Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy of spaghetti Westerns during the 1960s, and as antihero cop Harry Callahan in the five Dirty Harry films throughout the 1970s and 1980s. These roles, among others, have made Eastwood an enduring cultural icon of masculinity. Starwave was a Seattle, Washington based software and website company, founded in 1993 by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and led by CEO Mike Slade. The company produced original CD-ROM titles, including titles for Clint Eastwood, Sting, and Peter Gabriel. They were the original developers of Castle Infinity, the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game for children, but Starwave's most lasting mark was in the area of web content sites. They developed ESPN.com, ABCNEWS.com, Outside Online, and Mr. Showbiz.com among other sites, setting the standard for much of the commercial Internet explosion of the late 1990s. Starwave also developed the first site and publishing system for Jim Cramer's TheStreet.com. The company merged with Infoseek and was later sold to The Walt Disney Company. In April 1998, Disney purchased the outstanding shares of Starwave from Allen after an initial buy of about 30% in 1997. The new entity, Walt Disney Internet Group (WDIG) developed the Go.com portal. In 2004, Disney re-activated the Starwave identity as Starwave Mobile, which published casual games for mobile phones.
