DESCRIPTION:
This is a nice chromed white metal Swiss lady's pendant watch which looks to have been professionally converted from a small gentleman’s wristwatch to be able to be hung on a chain as a pendant watch. My guess is that the wife or relative of FRANK BLYTH (serving RAF airman) had this watch converted to remember him by. Although I have found his service details, they are sparse and would probably need further in depth research to find out if he was killed in action or lived through WW2. The watch measures 3.1cms (31mm) across, excluding the crown and chain rings. The case is in aged original condition. It has no dings on it The case back is engraved with the wording ‘Frank Blyth 858809 RAF’
DIAL:
This charming watch has a lovely all original two tone silvered dial which is in good aged condition. It is signed ‘M Beaver Manchester’ It has nice black painted Arabic numerals. The numerals are in decent order showing wear to some numbers. The hands are blued steel and are in good condition. The crystal looks to be a plastic replacement. It is in used condition showing light wear.
MOVEMENT:
This is a nice Swiss made crown wind 15 jewel movement. The movement is in good condition and is in working order. It has been timed and oiled. As always a full service would be recommended for optimum performance and timekeeping. The watch winds fine. It winds and sets as it should. It keeps time to within a couple of mins per day. Please do not expect quartz accuracy as this item is over 65 years old.
