This book, Japan Today, was published in 1948 as a picture album of memories to those who spent time in Japan following World War II. Published by the Society for Japanese Cultural Information, this book was made primarily for the consumption of the Occupation Forces in Japan. The author expresses his deepest thanks to Occupation and Japanese agencies for making some of the never-to-be-had photos available for this book. The front and back covers of this book look like silk or other shiny dark green fabric. This 370-page book with interesting thread tied binding is 7” x 10”. The inside first page and spread in the back have some pencil marks/drawings and there are some moisture spots on a couple of blank pages in the back, and this can be seen in photos. The front cover has a small area that looks like something may have been attached and when removed it left some residual paper/material stuck on it. There is a fold out of a map that has a rough edge from wear and age, but it is intact. Other than these issues, the book is in good condition, and it comes from a smoke free home. This book was brought home from Japan in 1948 by a member of my family. Thanks for looking.
