Description
Don Hesse, original pencil newspaper political editorial cartoon
drawing on paper of President Ronald Reagan tossing out gloom and uncertainty, 9 by 12 inches,
unsigned, circa 1981, in excellent condition. The editorial drawing represents the hope of Republicans to establish a positive conservative agenda by eliminating the negative aspects of the democrat Jimmy Carter's presidency.
Don Hesse (1918-1985) was the
editorial cartoonist of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat from 1951 to 1984. He was one of the most important conservative
editorial cartoonists in the country who actually introduced the young Globe
editorial writer Pat Buchanan to his friend Richard Nixon at a 1965 party at
his home.
