(Cheers) Original script for the episode entitled A House is Not a Home written by Phoef Sutton, Production #60595-120, First Draft, February 24,1987, 46 mimeographed white pages plus Cast and Sets List bound in gray wraps with two brass brads, in excellent condition. This is episode 25 of season 5 and was first aired on April 30, 1987.
In this episode, Diane and Sam find and purchase the perfect home to live in once they get married in spite of the emotional separation of the elderly couple that have resided there for forty years. To alleviate Diane's misgivings she arranges for the couple to have a final Christmas in the house, which happens to be in the heat of the summer. During the party, Sam puts his foot down and takes over the house as he convinces the couple they are intruding upon he and Diana.
What makes this episode important is that it was supposed to be the lead-in to the final episode of the season in which Sam and Diane get married. However, that story line had to be changed because Shelley Long decided not to sign a contract to appear in the next season and the wedding got called off.
