This is one of a number of antique/vintage paintings I am listing today from a large country house. This oil painting on a canvas has no date , it does have a signature looks like BADUEL, but can’t be sure. It has been appraised over the past few years by various auction houses galleries etc and most say definitely dating from early 19th century, and possibly Italian . Very hard to get a definitive answer so have done no further research.
A very well executed competent oil painting on canvas showing a man holding a sword, possibly an opera character, in typical early 19th century style. The painting is in very nice used condition, it has been relined and cleaned sometime in the past and as photos show displays superbly. It measures approximately 26 inches/ 66 cm in height by 17 inches/ 43 cm wide.
