HISTORY:
The Origin of Onggi pottery dates back to around 4000 to 5000 BC where Korean clay pottery has been traditionally used for storing and cooking foods. One of the most important characteristics of Onggi pottery is its microscopic porosity that enables air to enter and block moisture to help preservation and fermentation of foods - a popular tradition of Korean cuisine. Its natural air flow capability has earned its name as the "Breathing Bowl." 


PROCESS: 
OnggiJonggi Pottery is hand made using the traditional Onggi method which dates back to the Old Joseon Dynasty, Onggi pottery are fired at high temperatures of 1200'C for more than 20 hours at a time. It is made using only natural materials. Each earthenware pot has its own unique characteristics due to the nature of the natural soil and hand making process.
