Book is in very good condition with Dust jacket, brief inscription inside cover page, some dust jacket edgewear and paper darkening due to age, but overall clean throughout and very good condition. I believe this is a first edition (has CL) on bottom copyright page. Very Nice...considering keeping for my library bookshelf, so get while I have it listed!

This delightful book contains many stories about Paul Bunyan including the hilarious story of the great whale-run up the Columbia River.

Paul Bunyan has become a genuine American hero. It was the American loggers who made Paul Bunyan a true hero of camp night entertainment. They gave him Babe, the blue ox, who measured forty-two ax handles and a plug of chewing tobacco between the horns. They created the marvelous mythical logging camp, with its cookhouse of mountainous size and history of Olympian feats; and they peopled this camp with astounding minor heroes. They made him an inventor and orator, and an industrialist whose labors surpassed those of Hercules. They devised a chronology for him; he ruled American life in the period between the Winter of the Blue Snow and the Spring That the Rain Came Up From China. A mythical tale for all children, young and old.
