Harris's sketches for 'Portraits' were reproduced with remarkable delicacy and interpretative skill by lithographer Frank Howard, printed in black, and then hand painted by talented colourists combined to make 'Portraits of the Game and Wild Animals of Southern Africa' not only a work of historical and zoological importance, but one with an elegance, a distinction, all its own.
