For Synology Diskstation DS1815+ DS1515+ No power up, irresponsive power button, no power up LEDs DIY Repair Instructions

This item contains full instructions on paper that most likely will allow to repair Synology Diskstation DS1815+ *OR* DS1515+ (depending on selection) NAS devices when *ALL* of the following symptoms show up:

- Unit does not power up

- Power button does not turn unit on

- All LEDs never turn on or blink when power button pressed

Excludes all other faults, like (this is NOT to repair these symptoms):

- Faulty power supply unit (assumed the power supply unit is working perfectly)

- Common fault known as "Intel C2000 bug", also known as the "resistor fix"

- Other faults of the main board or the unit

There is a remote possibility that the problem is not only the faulty component these instructions refer to, and the main board has some other major fault or this fault together with others.

This DIY repair requires replacing an SMT (Surface Mount Technology) component, and though not a difficult task for experienced technicians with basic soldering skills, should be considered as difficult for people not used to solder/dessolder components. It does require a fine soldering iron tip or hot air soldering equipment. Also anti-static measures should be applied to handle the main board, as usual with all electronic boards. Requires main unit cover removal and some screws that hold the main board to the chassis. All dismantling/repair/remount operations should take around 15m to 20m for an experienced person.

It is strictly the buyers' responsibility to incur in such procedure and to take into account the risks involved, including possible permanent damage of the unit due to bad handling and/or servicing, and worst case, the procedure might not repair a unit that has other faults.

Please keep in mind that these instructions will *most likely* repair your device with the described symptoms, there is absolutely no guarantee that the unit does not have other problems that could render this repair useless to bring the unit back to life.

As reference, I have repaired dozens of units that did not power up, when the PSU was tested as good, with the instructions I am now sharing with others through this item.

Also please keep in mind: *** THIS IS NOT WHAT IS KNOWN AS "THE RESISTOR FIX" *** It's instructions to replace an active switching device.
