Up for auction is this VINTAGE ORIGINAL 1936 LIBERTY MAGAZINE DATED JUNE13 WITH ARTICLE "HOW I SHALL BEAT JOE LOUIS WHERE ALL OTHERS FAILED" BY MAX SCHMELING. The magazine has some condition issues with a major tear from the back side 2 inches up from the bottom at the spine that goes through most of the pages but does not reach the front cover page. The front cover page shows wear at the corners and along the outside edge with a couple of very small tears. Please examine the scans closely for accurate determination of condition and general idea. This fight was one of the most significant Heavyweight fights in history because of its political importance. Schmeling represented the Nazi position of "white supremacy" and Hitler was his big supporter. This article tells, from Schmeling's standpoint, how and why he would win, which he did with a 12th round knockout. Two years later Louis knocked out Schmeling in the first round, avenging this earlier loss. This is an important piece of boxing, as well as, political history and is refreshing to be reminded of Louis' accomplishments!!
