Japanese Kutani Sweetmeat Altar Dish Set in Lacquer Box Meiji Period, c1900

This is a Japanese hand painted Kutani Ware Porcelain Serving Set with a hand painted lacquer box. The Kutani ware has a landscape design featuring birds or geishas with gilt trim. There are seven dishes in total. There are no cracks or chips.

The set of dishes comes in the original box. The box is beautifully hand painted with a song bird and blossoms.  The box has some damage. The lacquer inside the base and on the underside of the base is worn and damaged. There is a crack on one corner of the lid.
