AN EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL FULLY WORKING ENGLISH MANS 1951 SOLID 9 CARAT GOLD SOUGHT AFTER JW BENSON SMITHS PRE 'TROPICAL' ART DECO STYLE DIAL MOVEMENT WRISTWATCH.

SERVICED AND IN GOOD WORKING ORDER.

CASE:
The case to this beautiful rare watch is solid English fully hall marked 9 carat GOLD.  It has a presentation engravings to the case back what seems to represent the New York based Macaulay business club. The case is in beautiful condition with no major wear and no major damage  The rest of the case shows some light marks but it looks absolutely beautiful. I have gently polished the case, and it is shining nicely, as only solid gold can. THE WATCH MEASURES 3.2CMS (32mm) IN DIAMETER. The inside of the back cover is fully hall marked for solid gold (EDINBURGH 1951).

DIAL:
This lovely collectible watch has a its stunningly beautiful original silvered dial. This is the sought after pre 'Tropical' classical elegant dial design which has stunning Art Deco styling. It is fully signed 'JW BENSON LONDON and MADE IN ENGLAND at the bottom of the dial. It is in EXCELLENT original condition with some light spotting and dirt marks under magnification but looks absolutely stunning! It has lovely black painted baton and Roman numerals contained within a double circle and a black painted outer minute track. The dial also has a subsidiary dial which is in good condition. The brand new plexi crystal is in good condition showing light wear. The beautiful golden steel watch hands and are in good condition with light oxidisation.

MOVEMENT:
This is a beautiful SMITHS made genuine English made 15 jewel frosted gilt movement. It is unsigned. The watch has been serviced by my watch maker. It keeps good time as tested over a 12 hour period. It runs well and winds and sets smoothly. The unsigned crown looks original and is in good condition.

BAND:
This superb JW BENSON watch is  fitted with a brand new black genuine leather band with a gold tone buckle. As such is is unworn and in excellent condition.

Please remember that vintage watches have survived for many decades by being treated well. Vintage watches are not for wearing while doing yard work, working out, or swimming. Vintage watches cannot keep time like their quartz cousins and will need altering on average between +-2 to +-5 mins per day. They are a little more destructible than modern watches. Vintage watches also require periodic service and cleaning. Every couple of years, they would like their 20,000 mile checkup, oil change, and general service. By taking care of your vintage watch, you will have years of great service, and a quality heirloom to pass to another generation.

This watch has recently been serviced. However, shipping can be unkind to watches. I do check the watch to be certain it runs when the watch is listed and we re-check the watch before it is shipped. There is no warranty on the running considering that this is a vintage watch. It is possible that an adjustment or further servicing may be necessary.
