Item number: 1077886/3

Product description

Botanical name: Peltogyne venosa

Country of origin: South and Central America

This is amaranth wood, also called violet wood or purpleheart. This wood with a mostly simple texture is crisscrossed by fine light and dark lines and occurs primarily through its naturally magnificent purple-red to violet coloration, which is the result of nature. The grain of the wood is usually irregular. The wood is only roughly cut, Lengths up to 330cm available, 1-2 insect holes, both sides only pre-planed (but sometimes it can still have a little rough spots (mostly on the back), sometimes an edge can have light-colored sapwood (e.g. on the back), dry. Possible dark spots are only superficial (possibly caused by drying) and can be further sanded / planed! Existing distinctive features such as knots / hairline cracks, ingrowns, etc. are marked as well as possible with chalk (see photos!) After planing, the wood first becomes very pale again, but the intense color only comes out after a few days in daylight. -> So just leave it where there is plenty of daylight! The photos show the wood partly freshly planed and after about 7-10 days of storage. Colors may vary slightly depending on the tree / origin / board / screen! Since all boards were stacked again after planing and did not come into contact with daylight, the boards will all look very pale at first. You then simply have to put the wood in daylight / sun and wait a few days. The longer it lies, the darker / more intense the color (re-sanding could intensify / accelerate the process a little). So, depending on the cut, you could also get very light & pale wood!
