All Wiggle ya Worm rigs are Hand Tied in Queensland, Australia by experienced Shark fishermen and Fisho's who know what works, and more importantly what doesn't! so you can spend more time 'hanging-on' and less time wondering if your set up is right!
This tried and tested long range casting rig WILL ALLOW YOU TO CAST FURTHER, this rig is one of our favourites on the beach to get past that surf line, at approx 1.3m long (deployed) its easy to cast from the rocks beach boat or riverbank. Hand tied using 60lb & 40lb mono leader, chemically sharpened 1/0 circle hooks, (please note: The design of circle hooks makes them slightly bigger than a standard 1/0 octopus beak hook) quality pulley bead swivel, impact shield, quality soft luminous beads and a 108lb black rolling swivel.
This variation of our long casting rigs features circle hooks which have a few great features: You DO NOT STRIKE on the bite with Circle hooks, simply let the fish run with the bait and the hook will roll into the corner of the fishes mouth, hooking itself. This makes feature means you can put your rod in the rod holder and wait for the rod to bend as the fish hooks itself! great for lazy fishos! This also makes it particularly good for kids and inexperienced fishos who are still learning when to strike, because they don't have to! Circle hooks also rarely hook a fish in the guts so they are particularly good if you are fishing to catch and release as they usually only hook the fish in the corner of the mouth keeping the fish healthy and reducing the potential for internal damage.
Simply hook your bait (bottom hook) under the arm of the Impact Shield before you cast out, this makes the bait and weight aerodynamic, therefore there is less wind resistance and "helicoptering" of your bait as it travels away from you. Resulting in a signficantly further cast, some say this rig can increase your casting distance by 30%, one thing we do know is that is makes a massive distance difference, especially with an onshore breeze. You do not need to change your casting technique, ust cast as normal and let science do the work for you!
One often overlooked feature of this rig is that it is extremely effective when rock fishing or when fishing on weedey bottoms. When the fish strikes and runs with the bait, the design/arrangement of the rig immediately lifts the weight away from potential snags.
This rig is a true all rounder that will catch most species, perfect for getting that larger strip bait out past the surf.
