Here is a fine large portrait bust of Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julie, of Denmark and after Prince Edward’s accession, Princess of Wales, modeled by Mary Thornycroft for Copeland and the Crystal Palace Art Union, dated 1863. This bust is described and pictured on page 237 & 238 figure R10 in Copelands Statuary Porcelain by Robert Copeland and page 181 figure 590 of The Parian Phenomenon by Richard Dennis. This 15.5” size is not often found and was produced after the Prince Edwards accession and is a good opportunity for the collector. Skillfully modeled and artistically rendered, this bust stands on a circular plinth and is in very good condition , without any damage, cracks, chips, firing flaws or repairs. as pictured in photos. A large , scarce Parian bust for the collector. Very light age associated soiling. Socle has been glued to the bust without bolt, as pictured. Please see photos.
