The 16" x 20" "View of the City of Washington in 1792" has been reproduced from an image of the original city plan in the Library of Congress' collection in Washington, D.C.  From west to east, the plan includes Georgetown, Mason's Island, Rock Creek, the Potomac River, Alexander's Island (today's Roosevelt Island), St. James Creek, Goose Creek, and the Anacostia River or Eastern Branch.  Original place names for the land parcels include: Mexico and Hamburgh (presently Foggy Bottom in NW D.C.); west of Goose Creek:  Widow's Mite, Mount Pleasant, Jamaica, Port Royal, Mill Tract, and Beall's Levels in NW D.C.; east of Goose Creek:  Isherwood, Jenkins Hill (now Capitol Hill) in Abbey Manor, and Hopyard in SE D.C.; and Duddington's Pasture and Carrollsburg in SW D.C.  Names of the original land owners are written on each parcel.  This is a fascinating plan to research, and predates the first engraved city plan of Washington, D.C. in 1800.  Framed in a 1" mahogany wood frame, ready to hang.
