Here's an interesting early Waterman with a 14KT  filigree overlay on its barrel. . This style appears in the literature in 1906 in gold filled filigree overlay and in other patterns and is sometimes referred to as a half overlay.  These pens of course are ED filled pens, but this pen is a lever filler which I think places it at about 1915. It is unmarked as to model number, but I think it should be something like a 514-1/2 model.  The pen is done in chased black hard rubber which looks completely unused and untoned.  The clip has no gold markings so I assume it is gold filled, but excellent with standard marks. The barrel has a three line radial imprint at the bottom. The overlay has a full name monogram in the cartouche on the overlay, but it is weak and a little hard to read. As stated, the pen is a lever filler and it will need a new sac and possible a j-bar before it will take up ink.  The nib is an excellent WATERMAN IDEAL #2 with excellent flexibility
