Antique Brass Charge Coin: Nathan Snellenburg CO; NSCO; Philadelphia Dept Store


This is an excellent rarely seen this old and in brass 1" diameter charge coin from Nathan Snellenburg & Company, commonly known as Snellenburg's of Philadelphia. 

At the top is NS&Co -- it's a hard to find tag in this design.

Snellenburg was a Philadelphia, PA department store and wholesale clothing manufacturer established in 1869. The company became the largest clothing manufacturer in the world and at one time employed 3,000. The company sold directly to retail customers allowing clothing to be sold for lower prices  -- its slogan was "The Thrifty Store for Thrifty People." Was family run until its closure in 1962.
