Details"According to Gruelle, the idea for a camel character came from a cloth toy purchased for his children. When Gruelle removed dangerously sharp leg skewers and plopped the stuffed camel down on a table, its knees crumpled and a new character was born."

In this book the Camel tells Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy the story of how his knees became so wrinkled.

The illustrations in the book are fantastic! Some are in brilliant color and others in black and white. The pages have a decorative border. Illustrated endpapers.

The Raggedy Ann tales, written and drawn by Johnny Gruelle, have been entertaining children since 1918. The books of 'The Raggedy Ann Series' all feature their central protagonist, with red yarn for hair and a triangle nose - charting her considerable adventures. Gruelle created Raggedy Ann for his daughter, Marcella, when she brought him an old hand-made rag doll. He drew a face on it, and from his bookshelf, pulled a book of poems by James Whitcomb Riley, combining the names of two poems, 'The Raggedy Man' and 'Little Orphant Annie.' From this moment on, the much-loved children's series went from strength to strength.

A fine addition for your bookshelf!

Condition: Some loss to the spine covering and a little corner wear, internally the pages are fine, overall in good condition with a firm binding and clean pages.
