"Porcelain factory established by Francis Gardner, who had made his money exchanging foreign currency. It remained in the family until its sale. Very successful during the 18th and 19th centuries and received an important commission of services from Catherine II (q.v.) in the early 1770s. Sold to M.S. Kuznetsov in 1890 but the mark of the Francis Gardner factory continued to be used for at least another ten years and perhaps for even longer on exports to the East." -- British Museum website

"The factory was operated by the family for three generations until 1891, when it was taken over by Kusnetzoff; their porcelain name and mark continued after the Gardner firm had been absorbed by Kuznetsov." -- lapidarius.com

"Kuznetsov company overtook in 1891 Gardner Verbilki factory (nowadays Dmitrovsky Porcelain Factory). In 1889 the new name of the company was - M.S. Kuznetsov Company for the Manufacture of Porcelain and Pottery Goods."
Since 1991 Factory name is "Manufactury Gardner".
