Helpful things to consider
  • You are specifying the string length, not the bow length. If you choose the number 54 and go with 14 strand, you will receive a 54" 14 strand string.
  • For a RECURVE bow, your string length will generally be 4" shorter than your bow's AMO length. For a LONGBOW your string length will be 3" shorter. For example, if you have a 58" Bear Grizzly recurve bow, you'd need a 54" string! Some bows are an exception and require a different string length so feel free to reach out if you need help finding what your bow needs.

String Specifications
  • String Loop Sizes - 1.75",1.25" for recurves - 1 1/8th",1" for longbows
  • Center serving size - .112" +/- 5% tolerance (Great fit for Gold Tip GT nocks and similar sizes. Will create even better fitment after several shots during break in.)
  • All materials used are from BCY which is the top standard for bow string materials.
  • D97 is made of Dyneema, which is similar in nature to Brownell's Fast Flight string material being low stretch. The term "Fast Flight" is also a common term people use when referring to low stretch string materials like D97, BCY 652, Brownell's FF, etc., so I've included it in the listing title to make finding the listing easier for buyers.

How many strands to choose
  • 14 strands(up to 80lbs)
  • I requested breakage numbers from BCY and was sent the following from a rep. Minimum breaking strengths based on a straight pull on a calibrated Instron tester are 45lbs per strand for B55 and 104lbs per strand for D97.
