DESCRIPTION: A large Japanese enameled gourd shaped garlic head Vase.

Beautiful hand painted decoration with jeweled/raised dots.

The piece looks to be Satsuma but not sure.

The color is more of a pearl white with no crackle glazing.

More of a porcelain than a pottery.

Satsuma characteristics are usually a tan color with a crackle glaze.

The vase has two fixed gilt ring handles supported by lions heads?

I would date the vase to mid 19th century.

A striking piece with superb gilt highlighting.

CONDITION: In excellent condition with no crazing, chips or cracks.

MEASUREMENTS: 10.75" high and app. 3" diameter.
