The ruler of Poland, Prince Bolesław Wstydliwy 1243 - 1279

Medal from the series of Polish kings by Witold Korski. 

The series was issued in 1972, but the medal with the image of the first Polish ruler was not minted until 1986. The original idea was to present only the images of the rulers who minted their own coins on which the portrait of the king was placed.
 Description
Bolesław Wstydliwy - issue number 3C'' 1984, diameter 70 mm

- patinated tombac - 1500 pieces
- oxidized tombac - 1650 pieces
- silver 102 pieces

Obverse: In the center, the bracteat "Prince with a pennant" ascribed to Bolesław the Chaste. Above there is a romanesque ornament and an inscription: BOLESLAVS PVDICVS. On the sides, the reign dates: MCCXLIII - MCCLXXIX (1243 - 1279). Below, a bow and a dog. At the bottom, an inscription: PTAiN 86 SERIES KING NO. 3C. Pearl ring.
Reverse: Three figures. In the center, a prince with a spear and a shield with an eagle, above the inscription: BOL. VD. HALF. On the sides, two female figures with inscriptions around the halo: On the left BEATA KINGA VXOR, on the right: BEATA SALOMEA SOROR. Below, there is a hunting scene and an inscription: DVX BOLE / SLAVS / CVPIDIS / SIME / VENATIO- / NES / AGENS. At the bottom, an inscription: MONGOLORUM INVASIONE CRACOVIA / URBS DEVASTATA. IVRE THEUTONICO DE- / NVO A. MCCLVII LOCATA EST. Below there is a Romanesque ornament. Pearl ring
