This 7-3/4" master butter knife is an antique piece in the Chantilly pattern. This pattern has lovely art nouveau lines. This is solid sterling, even the blade. This piece has a monogram, either P or B. There is also a family name engraved into the back, Stanton Pilcher. The original Stanton Pilcher was an early Mayor of Louisville, Ky. but this piece and the pattern dates from 1895, which would have been very late for Pilcher the mayor. I did find several other Stanton Pilchers in ancestry.com.

The knife is in excellent condition. It does have some serious, old tarnish which I've left in place. All I did to photograph this was to rub it for a few minutes with a polishing cloth. The pattern is beautiful. Nothing quite as beautiful as an old piece of Gorham.

I have more antique sterling silver flatware on my other listings. I'm always happy to ship multiple purchases together.
