The Standard Railroad of the World designed and built "standard" steam locomotives from class A to T during the first half of the Twentieth Century to handle its diverse passenger and freight operation. This all-color book starts with class E-6 and K-4 racehorses of the East Coast involving side trips to see A-5 0-4-0's handling the sharp curves of Philadelphia, a G-5 local to Reading and an E-5 in service at Wilkes-Barre. After viewing steam operations on the famous Middle and Sunbury Divisions, we reach the 1-1 helpers of Altoona. In Ohio, the huge 2-10-4's control mineral traffic from Columbus to Sandusky and the color coverage ends with T-1's at St. Louis and steam commuter service out of Chicago.
Also included are some PRR built H-10's and G-5's on the Long Island and leased AT&SF and Reading steam power working under PRR operating rules. Photographed between 1942 and 1957, most PRR steam classes are represented in this 128-page all-color book.
