C.1710-1730 JAPANESE IMARI Gravy/Sauceboat.


A stunning early piece with a beautiful scalloped border.

The shape is inspired from the English silver forms of the same period with open spout at one end and a small handle at the other.

The interior is decorated with underglaze blue and hand painted overglaze enamels with gilt trim depicting peonies and grasses in a vase.

The exterior is decorated in underglaze blue with two panels depicting phoenix and formal flowers with gilt trim.
