RAKETA (ROCKET)
ORIGINAL
RUSSION WRISTWATCH
The subject of this review is
the relatively and very beautiful
timepiece RAKETA which was produced in the
Petrodworzowy Watch factory at the end of 60’s. It was made in USSR, not a modern copy made in Russia in
present time.
This astonishing timepiece
features an original light-colored dial in excellent condition. The original face features a 60 minute
checkered inner track border, large black Arabic numbers with red figure “12”, original long hands and
central second’s hand. The dial is signed ’RAKETA’
below the 12 and ‘made in USSR’ below
the 6. On the dial there
is the emblem of a State mark of Quality.
This mark is a mark certifying a highest level of quality, and conformity to
production to the best world standards.
The original acrylic crystal is in excellent condition. The case is a three-piece construction, with a bezel,
case centre, and a rotating screwed lid with down-turned lugs. The steel stronger case with solid lugs has little traces of aging. The back lid of the
case has a stamped number #210130. The
watch has protection from shock. The winding
crown is in excellent shape, operating smoothly.
The watch is mechanical and
completely original. Original "RAKETA"
has mechanical lever movement and manual winding. The movement is based on
caliber RAKETA 2609 HA. The movement with cleaned genuine jewels was very
well saved, considering age of this watch. It's a VERY reliable movement. Many of these
movements work for 40-50 years!
The movement is signed SU (Soviet Union, USSR). 'SU' is a generic marking
applied to many Soviet-built movements from somewhere around the late sixties
until the end of the USSR,
after which it was replaced by 'RUS' for Russia.
Diameter
watch: 33 mm
Thickness
watch: 11 mm
The timepiece is in working condition, well hold time. I think that genuine connoisseurs are going to rate this watch for their functionality, reliable movement and design. It certainly is extremely collectable watch!
HISTORY: Petrodvortsovy
Watch Factory has deep historical roots going to the 18th century when in 1721
by decree of Peter the Great the Imperial Lapidary Factory was founded.
The
factory got the present name in 1954 by the decision of the Soviet government
and has since specialized in the production of men's wrist and pocket watches.
All watches produced by the factory since
1962, are called Paketa.
The
Petrodworzowy Watch Factory is the owner of the Raketa trade mark. The
factory manufactures only men’s watches. The plant produces mechanisms which
rank among the most reliable in the world.
'RAKETA' is one of known and with the richest
history of the Russian watch factories that currently kept the level of quality
and competitiveness of its production. "RAKETA" offers watches with
individual symbolic and souvenir watches to memorable dates and anniversaries.
