Beatrice Straight was an American theatre, television and film actress. Active in the
 early days of television in anthology series such as Hallmark Hall of  Fame, Playhouse 90,
 Alfred Hitchcock Presents. She received the 1953 Tony Award for her performance in 
The Crucible and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her five minute and
forty second performance as the devastated wife confronting husband William Holden's
 infidelity in Network (1976).
