LARGE VICTORIAN
IRONSTONE BLUE & WHITE
SERVING PLATTER
Transfer decorated border and central scene depicting
some sort of
illegal activity, most likely Smuggling
going on while another boat crew snoozes nearby.
It is blue/grey and white in colour - not typical
colouring of blue and white pottery.
The Makers Mark to the back is heavily rubbed
and not decipherable.
However, it is European (or perhaps English)
but as the pattern is called RHINE
Germany seems a good bet.
It measures 20in. (51cm) by 16 1/2in. (42cm)
and is 2in. (5cm.) high.
It weighs
3.84kg.
CONDITION
In good original condition.
No chips, cracks or crazing.
Only very minor defects on the
face of the platter with only a
few knife marks.
The underneath of the platter shows
its age more with the amount of
usage scratches you would expect.
