Mike Burke President New York Yankees Autograph Letter Signed 1973

Mike Burke, autograph letter on New York Yankees letterhead signed Mike to CBS executive Milton Goldstein, January 12, 1973, about 7 ¼ by 10 ½ inches, in very good condition. Goldstein's receipt stamp in the upper right and is dated January 23, 1973.  Burke thanks Milt for his thoughtful note and lets him know that he is always welcome here.  With the letter is a retained carbon copy of the January 5 letter that Goldstein sent Burke.  This letters come from a collection of Milton Goldstein correspondence that I acquired many years ago. 

In 1963, CBS purchased the New York Yankees and installed Burke as it president.  In 1972, CBS decided to sell the Yankees.  The company sold the team to a group led by Burke and George Steinbrenner in January 1973.  Burke was again named the president.  However, in April 1973, Steinbrenner bought out Burke and took over control of the team.  Burke and Goldstein were friends from their days together at CBS.
