DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful and super rare Raf Gun camera watch was developed to be used on the RAF Lighting Interceptor (the first and online interceptor build in the UK capable of exceeding Mach 2).The IWC MK11 camera watch 10AF/807 was a modification made by the RAF itself, or maybe more plausibly by Vinten, who the manufacturer of the camera for the weapon recorder. Instead of buying more IWC watches for it, the RAF decided to use movements from Mk.11s that were no longer used and most unusually they were broad arrow marked on the movement itself.

CASE:

The steel case on this stunningly rare watch is in great original condition. It shows some light scratches, nibbles and marks but is in very good all-round condition.  It is fully signed with the military broad arrow, No. ‘10AF/807 and N.I.023’ It has a screw down back and an antimagnetic cover to the movement creating a ‘Faraday cage’ protecting against magnetisim. It measures approximately 3.5cms (35mm) across excluding the crown. It is of superb robust composition and is quite heavy.

DIAL:

The dial is made from porcelain and is white in color. There are no cracks or damage and all of the hands are correct and present and are in excellent condition (see close up photos) The dial has black printed Arabic numerals which are also in excellent condition and a black printed outer ‘Railway’ seconds dial. The crystal seems original and shows some light wear and tear.

MOVEMENT:

This is a stunning and beautiful looking genuine IWC cal 89 movement with gorgeous Geneva striping. It is in beautiful condition. I have had it lightly oiled and timed and it is keeping time to within a couple of seconds per day, It is FULLY signed by the International watch Company. It is also signed with the British broad arrow or ‘Crowsfoot’ mark). The hacking seconds works perfectly when the crown is pulled out to set the time. It winds smoothly and sets as it should. The friction is good and the balance has a good action. This is the exact same movement as is/was fitted into the MK.11 pilots watches.
