A 2 inch tall x 2 1/4 inches wide cylinder-shaped WHITE MILK GLASS colored antique OWL DRUG CO jar. A very unique jar with a small little white SNOWY OWL embossed on the base and a jar that MANY have never even seen. Note that this is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE, a very early jar as it has the older, OFF CENTER - ONE WING bird embossed on it.

Jar embossed on base with a picture of a tiny little fluffy white Snowy Owl owl perched on a druggists' mortar, stirring a pestle. The mortar is embossed with, "TODCo". TODCO = The Owl Drug Co.

Condition: This jar has a chip out of the edge of the base (seen in pic's) and a hairline crack that comes from the top and runs down into the shoulder then stops. This jar was recently dug up in New Mexico and it still has some wear from being buried for well over 100 years. The lid is NOT original as the original one was completely rusted out when found, and though this lid looks original on the jar and gives it that 'complete' look, the thread pattern is a little different so it doesn't screw all the way down on the jar. But the jar is solid and has a FULLY embossed one wing owl BOLDY imprinted on the base. These jars are so rare that one of them in any condition is a rare find as probably only 4 - 5 have ever been run on eBay in the last 25 years.

These little milk-glass base-embossed Owl Drug jars are rarer than rare. These come in at least five sizes as unbelievable as that seems, as we have had five (5) DISTINCTIVELY DIFFERENT sizes at one time, but they may even come in more. This one here is a mid-size example. All of them have the early off centered one-wing birds embossed on them, we've not ever seen the newer two wing bird embossed on the base. The rumor from back in the early days of collecting Owl Drug bottles, was that these milk glass Owl Drug jars, with embossed owls on the base, had come out of the Los Angeles area. As far as I can remember there are no documented findings of them being found anywhere but in the vicinity of old Los Angeles. Even this one seems to back that as it was dug in the SW, New Mexico to be exact. There are not too many old time owl collectors around anymore, but some of those that are know what I am talking about. This is the first one I have heard of being dug in a long time, since the 1970's, as no one is digging heavily in L.A., like it was being dug in the beginnings era of bottle collection, 1950's - 1970's. Anyway, this little jar here is RARE x 100, check it out!
