Scarce Embossed Medicine Bottle Victoria BC Cyrus H Bowes - Dug JamesBay Pre 1904 Druggist
Very nice example of a scarce Embossed Medicine Bottle Victoria BC ,Cyrus H Bowes.
Bottle measures 6 5/8 inches x 2 5/8 inches x 1 3/8 inches.
This bottle was dug by myself ,25 feet below city level in the old James Bay Estuary
that was filled in ,1904 to street level, just behind the Empress Hotel in downtown
Victoria BC.
Close to site of Bapco paint plant.
The site was filled because of the accumulation of thrown garbage into the tidal area.
This built many blocks of reclaimed land for building the downtown on.
Site hole was filled about 20 years ago.
No maker mark.
BIMAL style bottle, Blown in mold, applied lip.
Condition:
Unfortunately this is not a pristine example of this scarce bottle.
It has small lip chip on upper edge.Small pocket marr on backside of bottle(see pics)
The bottle needs cleaning ,as this is how it came out of the ground in the mid 1990s.
