This is a very large image or Sho KAnnon- the bodhisattva of compassion. The figure is carved from hinoki wood. There is a socket on the bottom of the Lotus base and a filled slot for a mandorla. Indicating that this was originally part of a much larger multi tiered image In a temple setting. Very rare.
