Welcome to my Online store, where I try and combine new comics with books from my collection based on existing spec and my own views on what I think is heating up. If you're buying to collect read or sell, I've got you covered. *N.B I only buy and sell comics I truly believe in: whether that be a cool cover, a story I loved reading or a writer and artist that I'm a fan of

Thursday 20th July: Hello World! A big week for covers here, without further ado let's get straight into it *Please note that due to Royal Mail taking industrial action on 26 and 31 August and the 8 and 9 September 2022 I will avoid posting on these dates to avoid any potential loss that may occur due to low staffing in the sorting offices

*10% of income from sales will be donated to The International Red Cross, to provide Food, Water, First Aid, Medicine and Shelter to those in serious need in Ukraine.

On my Radar:

Action Comics #1046 Cover C Stanley Artgerm Lau Swimsuit Card Stock Variant - DC's Swimsuit variants have been solid to great this SS, this is up there with the best, I love Superman posing in the background. People pointing out that Artgerm's covers for the Supergirl series from a few years back have increased in value over time, could be the same here

Avengers Forever #8 - I've been getting first appearance fatigue with this series and the concurrent Avengers ongoing, there's basically been a character mash-up in everyone single issue since this multiversal story began, personally I've been more interested in some of the niche characters, the issue with the prison filled with failed Steve Rogers variants and now this issue with the Thor who isn't worthy - being billed as the most Broken Thor in the Multiverse. I'm pretty fed up with character mash-ups at this stage so these two have been a breath of fresh air and more compelling from a character perspective and has a better chance of standing the test of time than a Doctor Octopus Hulk or an Ant-Man/Iron Man. Irrespective of all that I would also say that this is simply a great cover!

Batman: Fortress #4 - I wish I was reading this as the story sound right up my street, but I just couldn't get on with the interiors which seemed a bit too trad, I'll be catching this online or in collected form when the TPB gets a release. We get a first app here of D'ayl, a squirrel looking Green Lantern, I picked up the variant cover he features on, which is sick

Bunny Mask: The Hollow Inside #4 - I haven't been into this arc as much as the first, something is missing, perhaps the interactions between the main characters isn't as strong as the first run but it's still one of the titles I look forward to every month, I believe this is the last issue before another hiatus

Carnage #5 - it pained me to pass on the Maria Wolf variant being a big fan but I'm not reading this, even though a lot of people are into it. 1st app of Carnage's Dog included - I think the animal pet trend will begin to simmer off shortly so I don't think there's a lot of spec play here

Detective Comics #27 Facsimile - topping lots of people's key of the week lists. Let's face it this is the only way most of us are ever going to be able to get a copy of this, surprisingly there are only about 4 other facsimile reprints of this book that exist so defo worth getting in on this if you collecting or buying to sell further down the line

Gun Honey: Blood for Blood #1 - Back after a short break, this is collector gold all day long, I actually mostly enjoyed the first arc but with a low print run of covers by big name artist you can't go wrong. The Artgerm is the best of the bunch in my opinion I would love to be able to get the foil that I believe is only available in the states

Harley Quinn #21 Cover D Megan Huang Swimsuit Card Stock Variant - Another swimsuit variant that's hilarious, colourful and encapsulates Harley at her absurd best. Can we get a Joker Swimsuit variant as well please?

What I'm selling this week:

The Amazing Spider-Man #8 1:25 Gleason Variant - Debut of new Spider-Man suit
Detective Comics #1063 Cover C Incentive 1:25 Yoshitaka Amano Card Stock Variant - Scarce Variant in high demand
Grim #4 Frison Unlockable Variant - One Per Store

Solicitation:

Spider-Man has a new costume and accessories that look vaguely…familiar. Is that a GLIDER?!

  • 1:25 Incentive Variant cover by Patrick Gleason

  • Debut of Oscorp Spider-Man suit

  • book is in mint condition, unread, unopened, bagged and boarded

  • Images are scans and representative of the copy for sale

  • I will ship one order each month with a free mystery comic!

  • this makes my list this week for the cover, not the new costume, although I can see the appeal; Spider-Man is the mostly likely character who can get a price increase in their books for altering their appearance whether it's the iconic Black Costume, the Stark Industries suit or the Captain Universe iteration. Anyway back to the point at hand; Gleason did an outstanding Vulture variant for the last issue which I think is going to be a future classic and this is no different; the tendency for cover art when there's a new costume is to simply show the thing in as simple and coherent way as possible. That's not to say this isn't being done here but this is such an original and bold way to present a costume change. Shoutout to Trending Pop Culture who also highlight that the two covers I mention are so striking that they're viewing them as potential homage material further down the line. Incidentally this cover also reminds me of Amazing Spider-Man #238 and we all know how much that gets a reference
