Four years ago, we reported on the WSOR's very diverse diesel locomotive fleet. In this issue, we update the roster that now includes SD40-2s and GP38-3s in place of the aging GP9s, GP20s, GP35s, and SD18s that once handled the freight-hauling duties on the Wisconsin carrier.

Although it began dieselization with a pair of EMD F3s, TP&W acquired a fleet of Alco road swichers, Lima end-cab switchers, and two EMD GP7s to complete the job. In the 1960s, both EMD and Alco supplied the bridgeline second-generation switchers to keep freight moving. By the late 1960s and 1970s, EMD became the builder of choice. In all, the TP&W used a variety of makes and models for a railroad of its modest size.
