Dr. Antonne Zagone wore his Bird Beak Mask for each one of his Bubonic Plague patients! Dr. Zagone thought he could spare himself from the plague by wearing his special Bird Beak containing dried flowers (like roses and carnations), herbs (like lavender and peppermint), camphor, or a vinegar sponge, as well as juniper berry, ambergris, cloves, labdanum, myrrh, and storax. The purpose of the mask was to keep away bad smells, known as miasma, which were thought to be the principal cause of the disease. Dr. Zagone believed the herbs would counter the "evil" smells of the plague and prevent him from becoming infected, as he worked and slaved to try and save his patients from the plague. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. Dr. Zagone wore the mask so much it slowly became part of his face and as the plague grew stronger the infection took over his flesh rotting away at his ever gruesome beak, his body and soul.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Hand Wash Latex Masks with Diluted Mild Soap by Lightly Dabbing. Gently Dab with A Clean Wet Rag to Rinse Clean. Do Not Use Oil Based Make-up, Removers and Creams as it will shorten the life of the Latex. Non-oil Based Make-up should be fine.
